Flighless Cormorants

We see cormorants frequently on the lake back of
our house. Usually they are spreading their large
wings or diving for fish.
In the Galapagos, through the years they have
forgotten how to fly and have very small wings.
Very different from what we are used to seeing.

This was a terrific photo op. The male is getting
seaweed to build nest and we got to watch the
process. Great fun.

Found some seaweed
First step
Moving along
Almost there
Nice nest
